[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter two back-to-back pay-per-views out of the country, the Ultimate Fighter Championship returns to Vegas for UFC 181. The card features two title fights. First, in the main event, Johny Hendricks defends the UFC Welterweight Title against Robbie Lawler in a rematch from this past March with Hendricks winning in an unanimous decision and took the belt. Hendricks has won six out of his last seven fights while Lawler has won four out of his last five fights and has 12 first-round finishes.
In the other main event, UFC Lightweight Champion and Milwaukee native Anthony “Showtime” Pettis defends his belt against Gilbert “El Niño” Melendez. Pettis has won seven of his last eight bouts and is gaining mainstream fame by recently appearing on a Wheaties box. Melendez is coming off of a year-long hiatus, having not fought since October 2013. However, Melendez has plenty of experience in title fights with 11 of his last 12 matches being title bouts. Pettis is coming off an injury himself and will be defending his title for the first time.
Also, on the main card, Tony “El Cuycuy” Ferguson will be facing off against Abel Trujillo. Ferguson is coming off a split decision victory over Danny Castillo in his first ever co-main event battle at UFC 177. Ferguson is known for being the Ultimate Fighter 13 winner and the first person to finish all of his opponents on the show. Trujillo is coming off a break from his last fight in February and has five first-round finishes.
