Tenth anniversary of the festival its largest yet
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his weekend, over 100 musical acts and a punk rock carnival will descend on Humboldt Park for Riot Fest’s 10th anniversary. Tickets to this event are getting scarce, with three-day passes already sold out. At press time, single-day Friday and Saturday passes were still available.
Parking around Humboldt Park is very limited, making public transportation your best bet to get to the fest. Bike parking will also be provided at the festival.
This year, the festival’s 50 food vendors include AH Catering and Concessions, Día De Los Tamales, Billy Goat Tavern, Wow Bao, Jerk 312, and Dalia’s Cocina Food Truck.
Aside from the music, there will be a nine-hole mini golf course, a dozen carnival rides, lucha libre wrestling and chainsaw sculpting. New to this year’s festival is a circus sideshow and a discussion panel. On Friday, one of those panels will feature members of Pussy Riot and be moderated by Henry Rollins.
Also on Friday, don’t miss the performance of Clutch, GWAR, Gogol Bordello, the Offspring, Jane’s Addiction, Slayer, and Chicago favorites Rise Against. Saturday’s must see lineup will include Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Wu-Tang Clan and The National. Don’t forget to save some energy for Sunday. Andrew WK, the Cure, Weezer, Social Distortion and Cheap Trick will grace the stage.
