Police investigate Humboldt Park shootings

Police are  investigation two shootings in Humboldt Park.

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]olice are investigating two shootings in the Humboldt Park neighborhood last week, one of them fatal.

The first involved Shandel Adams, 25, of the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street. He was shot in the 600 block of North Ridgeway Avenue while he was on the sidewalk last Tuesday. Adams was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died at 4:17 a.m., said the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police believe the shooting may have been gang related and at press time Area North Detectives were still investigating.

The other shooting involved a 51-year-old man who was wounded in the 3100 block of West Ohio Street around 7:53 p.m. last Thursday.

Authorities believe he got into an argument with other two men that resulted in the victim being shot in the face and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. At press time, he was listed in serious condition. Police said the shooting might have been drug related.
