From Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, Pace will offer weekend bus service to the Brookfield Zoo from the blue, green, and pink lines, brought about by a collaborative effort with the Forest Preserves of Cook County (FPCC) and the Chicago Zoological Society. Cook County Toni Preckwinkle and the Cook County Commissioners want residents to have access to the Forest Preserves, true gems of nature. Alan Nowaczyk, Pace Board Director, said, “We celebrate this collaborative effort to help seniors, families, and zoo employees from diverse areas of Cook County to have access to Brookfield Zoo.” As a result of this increased transportation connection, more residents will have direct and easy access to Brookfield Zoo.
The Chicago Zoological Society’s mission to connect people with wildlife and nature will be enhanced as more guests are able to take advantage of educational opportunities. The FPCC launched their Next Century Conservation Plan this year with two main goals: to engage diverse visitors and to increase accessibility to the Preserves for residents of Cook County.
