Veteran job fair held in Cicero
On May 21, LULAC of Illinois, with help from Rep. Lisa Hernandez, the Illinois Veterans Affair Department and Veteran Outreach, among others, held a job fair for veterans at the Cicero Workforce Center. Seminars were held to help veterans looking for work in the public and private sector.
The veteran’s unemployment rate is at 9 percent, which is higher than the national average. Various organizations such as the Illinois VA, Department of Child and Family Services, the CTA, and private organizations, like Cintas and the Brookfield Zoo, looked to reach out to veterans with the hopes of being able to offer them a job.
