[dropcap[H[/dropcap]ector Musse and Olga Alicea are more than a dynamic duo when it comes to designing outfits for teens and tweens. They are also mother and son. From Puerto Rico, the two and their team of about 50 people, including about 23 models, will be presenting their latest collection at Chicago’s Latino Fashion Week 2014.
Hector has been a designer for ten years now, following the footsteps of his mother, who has been in the business for 37 years. They have been dressing beauty queens for years, presenting at shows in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and designing for young women and professional women. “The clothes,” said Hector in an interview with EXTRA, “is designed for 16 to 18 year-olds. It’s elegant and in good taste. It’s high-end and classy,” he said. Their goal, he added, is for women to feel some kind of connection to the designs.
Even if they are mother and son, when they are working in their workshop, they complement each other on a professional level to make the best products for their line. They are ecstatic to be in Chicago this week for the first time, and plan on having a great time both working and visiting the sites.
