Fiesta del Sol begins

Fiesta del Sol is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. To kick off the celebration, Fiesta del Sol held its reception on July 18 at the Benito Juarez Community Academy with several dignitaries and political figures in attendance.

The organization was able to reach its goal of raising 40 scholarships for the Fiesta del Sol Guadalupe A. Reyes Scholarship Program. In addition, Pilsen Neighbors Community Council unveiled Fiesta del Sol’s 40th anniversary poster by Alejandro Romero.

Fiesta del Sol, the largest Latino Festival in the Midwest, is a free four-day, family-friendly summer festival organized by Pilsen Neighbors Community Council (PNCC).

Funds from the festival go toward an annual scholarship program, community organizing and educational programs for PNCC.
