Back to School Event

Come celebrate the school season! This family-friendly event provides free groceries, book bags and more. A health fair will include teeth cleaning and free haircuts, as well as music, face, painting and clowns.

July 27
Soccer Alliance
12632 South Rt. 59, Plainfield, Ill. | 2-4 p.m. | Free
Meet and greet soccer legend Jorge Campos at Verizon’s Alizanza de Futbol event. The athlete will sign autographs and there will be chances to win jerseys, soccer balls, and much more.

July 29
“El evangelio de la carne” movie screening
1517 W. Fullerton Ave. | 6 p.m. | $20
Join the Reel Film Club for a movie that did for Lima what Amores Perros did for Mexico City. “El evangelio de la carne” follows three individuals whose lives intersect on the streets of Lima.

July 30
Horror Short Film Showcase
1900 S. Carpenter Ave. | 7 p.m. | $10 suggested donation
Come enjoy the last few features in the Pilsen and Little Village’s Little Mexico Film Festival series. Featured films include “Hell’s Belles,” “Bautizo” and “The Breeder.”

Fiesta del Sol Festival
1400 W. Cermak Road | Thursday: 5 – 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., Sunday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. | Free
Don’t miss out on the largest Latino festival in the Midwest kicking off Thursday. The festival provides live entertainment, local art, carnival rides, a children’s area, and a variety of food to generate revenue within the Pilsen community. Help support the community while having fun!
