Crime Briefs: More burglaries in Jefferson Park

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]esidents are advised to be on alert for possible home burglaries occurring in Jefferson Park. Five new burglaries have been reported in the neighborhood since Christmas Eve of 2014. The burglaries in this alert are in addition to the seven home burglaries mentioned in an alert released last week.

According to police, the unknown offender(s) entered apartments and residences through doors or windows. The offender(s) are reported to have stolen “electronics, jewelry, cash, and other miscellaneous items,” said police.

The burglaries took place within the boundaries of Elston to Montrose Avenues and Cicero to Central Avenues, mostly during the daytime and early evening hours.

The incidents occurred:

  • In the 5600 block of N. Central Avenue on Dec. 24, 2014 between 5:30 PM and 8:45 PM.
  • In the 5000 block of W. Carmen Avenue on Dec. 30, 2014 between 9:00 AM and 9:15 PM.
  • In the 4400 block of N. Lamon Avenue on Jan. 1, 2015 between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • In the 5000 block of W. Windsor Avenue on Jan. 5, 2015 between 7:00 PM and 10:30 PM.
  • In the 5500 block of W. Wilson Avenue on Jan. 4 and Jan. 6, 2015 between 2:00 PM and 12:00 PM.

Police are advising residents to be aware of the crime pattern in the area and to let family and friends know of the burglaries. Additionally, residents should make sure all windows and doors are locked, and to pay special attention to any suspicious subjects loitering in the area.

And if an incident occurs, call 911 immediately to provide a detailed description of the offenders(s) including any vehicle and license plate information, as well as direction of flight.
