[dropcap]P[/dropcap]olice issued an alert for the Albany Park neighborhood after a teenager was sexually assaulted on Monday.
The female victim was walking in the 4400 block of N. Sacramento when she passed a man walking northbound and, as she crossed the north alley of Montrose Avenue, she heard a commotion behind her. She then felt the man reach under her jacket and forcefully grope her from behind, police say.
The victim was able to turn around and look at the man, who then fled westbound down an alley. She then turned away from him and ran to her home nearby, said police.
The man is described as an adult of unknown age with medium complexion and dark eyes, possibly Hispanic, who is possibly five feet tall or shorter. He was last seen wearing a black scarf covering the lower half of his face and an oversized, pistachio colored winter jacket with a nylon outer layer and an attached hood, which he was wearing.
Police are advising residents to walk in pairs and not to talk to strangers or strange vehicles. They also recommend residents be aware of their surroundings, travel in well lit and populated areas and to only use electronic devices in safe areas.
Police are asking anyone with information about the attack to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
