Crime Briefs: Two delivery drivers robbed over the weekend

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]olice issued a warning Tuesday of two recent robberies of food delivery drivers in Horner Park and Lake View areas.

The two robberies happened on Saturday. The first incident happened around 6 p.m. in the 4400 block of N. Mozart and the second a half hour later in the 1500 block of W. Byron, said the alert from police.

The deliveries did not appear to have been called in by the offenders. In both incidents, the offenders approached the driver as he was making a delivery, displayed a handgun, knocked the victim to the ground, and announced a robbery. The offenders then proceeded to take money and valuables from the victim and flee on foot, said police.

Police described the suspects as two black males, between the ages of 25 and 30-years-old, and wearing black or grey hooded sweatshirts. In one of the robberies, one of the offenders was described as standing approximately five-foot-ten and weighing 180 pounds.

Police are asking residents to be aware of this crime and alert other businesses in the area and to report any suspicious person(s) who may be lingering around their delivery locations, or vehicles that appear to be following them in traffic. Delivery drivers should use caution when making food deliveries.

Anyone with information regarding the robberies should contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
