On Nov. 2, Sinai Community Institute (SCI) enrollment counselors received members of the community who wanted to learn more about health insurance options available to them through Get Covered Illinois and the Affordable Care Act. The Saturday event was part of Cover Your Community, a statewide day of action that included 160 different locations where Illinois citizens could obtain education and get started with the enrollment process. Yesterday’s event was hosted by State Representative Art Turner and held at SCI.
This is an amazing time in the history of our country, a time when getting healthcare can be accessible to all. We encourage community members to take the first step by visiting an enrollment event or calling an enrollment center,” said Debra Wesley, President of Sinai Community Institute and Sinai Health System Executive Vice President for Community Outreach. “Sinai is here to help, to make sure community members know about the affordable insurance options that are available to them, and to let them know that we’re here to provide the assistance they need to sign up for the plan that is best for them.”
Under the affordable Care Act millions of Americans who were previously unable to get insurance coverage can now get covered. All plans included in the Marketplace:
- Cover recommended preventive services free of charge
- Include a cap on out-of-pocket expenses
- Have no lifetime or yearly dollar limit on coverage
- Will not reject anyone on the basis of pre-existing conditions
