Report: Bulls trade Gibson, McDermott to OKC

With minutes to spare before the NBA’s trade deadline hit, the Bulls agreed to send Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott to Oklahoma City, according to multiple reports.

The trade has not been officially released by the team.

Reports say the Bulls will get point guard Cameron Payne, shooting guard Anthony Morrow and power forward Joffrey Lauvergne.

Payne was the 14th pick of the 2015 draft, but missed the first two months of this season recovering from a broken foot.

Gibson was the longest-tenued Bulls at eight seasons. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent this summer, so the Bulls didn’t expect to keep him.

McDermott will go down as a major miscalculation.

The Bulls traded two first-round picks to Denver to get him on draft night in 2014, but McDermott has only showed flashes of his impressive scoring skills.

By not taking on significant salary in return, the Bulls should have around $30 million in cap room to spend this summer in free-agency.
