VILLARTE kicks off its 2012 Little Village Arts Festival to celebrate local talent and showcase the longstanding collaboration between businesses and artists in the Little Village community. The festival, now in its seventh year, offers attendees an opportunity to see how VILLARTE has worked as a collective to creatively transform empty storefronts and existing businesses into temporary but vibrant art galleries.
Little Village is best known for its Mexican representation and entrepreneurial spirit. Through the Social Service #225 program administered by the Little Village Chamber of Commerce, VILLARTE is able to once again work alongside festival organizers, volunteers, artists and business owners to provide exhibition and performance opportunities to novice and professional artists alike.
“The Little Village Special Service Area #25 program supports the arts, which are crucial in the development of people and communities. The arts nurture growth and ensure positive activity during tough economic climates. VILLARTE’s efforts compliment the aforementioned in Little Village,” said Little Village Chamber of Commerce executive director, Nilda Esparza.
The VILLARTE 2012 Little Village Arts Festival will be held from October 5 to 7 in the Little Village community. For maps and exact locations, visit www.facebook.com/VILLARTE
