The 29th Annual Chicago Latino Film Festival hosted a kickoff party at “Untitled” on March 27. Appetizers and drinks kept guests eager to hear more as founder and executive director of the International Latino Cultural Center, Pepe Vargas, spoke. Pepe was proud to announce that the Cuban actor Jorge Perugorria will be presenting the Gloria Lifetime Achievement Award for his work at the screening of “Marriage” on April 19.
A night of Argentina gala will follow the same evening with festivities and live mu- sic. The closing night will include a science fiction comedy called “The Man from the Future” with a Brazilian themed after party at the Rivers East Arts Center.
This year there is a Mexican and Jewish partnership to promote cultural exchange for the first time along with a “Women in Film” portion to support the growing Latina community’s contributions. All of the films will be shown in their original language with English subtitles, unless otherwise noted.
