The 29th Annual Chicago Latino Film Festival kicks off

The 29th Annual Chicago Latino Film Festival hosted a  kickoff  party at “Untitled”  on  March  27.  Appetizers  and  drinks  kept guests eager to hear more as founder and  executive director of the International Latino Cultural Center, Pepe Vargas, spoke. Pepe was  proud to announce that the Cuban  actor Jorge Perugorria will be  presenting  the Gloria  Lifetime Achievement  Award for his work at the screening of “Marriage” on April 19.

A night of Argentina gala  will follow the same evening with festivities and live mu- sic. The closing night will include  a science fiction comedy called “The Man from the Future” with a Brazilian themed after party at the Rivers East Arts Center.

This  year   there is  a  Mexican  and  Jewish partnership to promote cultural exchange for the first time along  with a “Women  in Film” portion to support the growing  Latina community’s contributions. All of the films will be shown  in their original  language with English subtitles, unless otherwise noted.

The  festival runs  April 11  through 25  with a complete line up at LatinoCulturalCenter.org.
