Last week, Chad Johnson of the Miami Dolphins allegedly head-butted his wife, reality television personality, Evelyn Lozada. Lozada reportedly found a receipt for condoms. Obviously…that was a bad idea.
In a span of two to three days, Johnson was arrested, cut from the Dolphins, lost the upcoming VH1 show and his wife filed for divorce. That’s a lot to lose in a short period of time.
Lozada has a history verbal outbursts and physical altercations; she did not deserve what happened to her. I’ve been on the receiving end of a head-butt before. Trust me…it’s no fun.
No doubt Johnson was wrong for what he did. However, she is not the best spokesperson for domestic violence. She can’t condone this type of behavior for the simple fact that is what she has used to make a name for herself in the realm of reality television.
Clearly, domestic violence is a bad deal.
Kevin Powell, whom you might recognize from the first season of MTV’s The Real World said it best on his Twitter account when it comes to men who have been involved in domestic disputes:
1) Own mistake
2) Get help
3) Heal and make commitment to nonviolence
4) Take stand against domestic violence
